Just
returned from Japan after buying the new stock for 2016. I arrived in Toyko at
8.30 am and was out to work by 9 am. Temperature by this time was 26
degrees and climbing. First stop was to Seiji Morimae's garden,
better known in the UK as S-CUBE. On entering this garden you feel you
have entered another world, the garden is designed so that visitors can
view Bonsai at its fullest extent. Magnificent Bonsai displayed in the dry
landscape garden overlooked by the Buddhist Kannon Hall . This garden is
the perfect place to relax and escape from everyday life.
The weather rapidly changed to a huge thunderstorm as we were approaching the end of the rainy season so as well as being extremely hot I was extremely wet. After about an hour I managed to purchase two top quality Maples. I then entered the showrooms full of high quality Chinese pots, Suiban, Hanging Scrolls, Display Stands ans Suiseki, where I purchased some display stands. Later we had tea in the Garden Room. Part of our conversation during tea was with regard to the late Daizo Iwasaki's Bonsai collection which numbers over twelve hundred trees. These trees were purchased by Seiji Morimae and each one is numbered and comes with a certificate of authenticity. The collection was now so large that Mr Morimae had to buy the nursery next door.
